Breaking Down Increasing Property Value: Wind and Solar

Number One: Wind and Solar Farms

Increase income potential for your farm by participating in Iowa’s renewable energy industry. Farms with a higher probability of income potential are typically viewed as higher-valued farms.

Solar farms are a great option to increase that value. Many farmers will decide to go this direction because they’re getting older, or because it’s simply easier and more lucrative to replace crops with solar panels.

But solar farms aren’t the only additions that could reap the rewards. Adding a wind turbine could mean the potential of an additional $9,000 annually, the average turbine payment in Iowa.

In 2015, the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) freed up $280 million in loans and grants to help “farmers, ranchers, business owners, tribal organizations, or any other entity to incorporate renewable energy and energy efficiency technology into their operations.”
